Steve ErkenBrack

President and CEO of Rocky Mountain Health Plans

Since 2009, Steve ErkenBrack has served as President and CEO of Rocky Mountain Health Plans, a health insurance carrier based in Grand Junction, CO and affiliated with United HealthCare. He served as Vice President of Legal and Government Affairs for the organization from 2002 to 2008.

For more than 25 years, Mr. ErkenBrack worked as an attorney with an emphasis on litigation, government affairs, and health care. He maintained a private practice with offices in Grand Junction and Denver. Mr. ErkenBrack served four years as Colorado’s Chief Deputy Attorney General, and six years as Mesa County’s elected District Attorney.

His significant legal and health care acumen has been recognized on a regional, statewide, and national basis. The Colorado legislature appointed Mr. ErkenBrack as the health plan representative to serve on Colorado’s Commission for Health Care Reform (2006), the Board of Directors for Health Insurance Exchange (2011), and the Colorado Commission for Affordable Health Care (2015). Mr. ErkenBrack has served on the national Boards of Directors of the Alliance of Community Health Plans and America’s Health Insurance Plans; is a founding member and former Chair of Club 20’s Health Care Committee; and a founding member and co-Facilitator of the Mesa County Health Leadership Consortium.

Mr. ErkenBrack has also served as Chair of the Board of Law Examiners for the Colorado Supreme Court, on the Board of Governors of the Colorado Bar Association, and as President of the Colorado District Attorneys Council. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and all courts in Colorado.

Mr. ErkenBrack received his law degree from the University of Colorado and undergraduate education at Washington & Lee University and the United States Naval Academy.
